The short answer: yes, from take-off to quote
“Does CUTTER SOFT price and cut aluminium roller shutters?” It is one of the questions we are asked most often. The answer is yes, for every type of slat. The software handles the roller shutter from the initial take-off to the final quote, including optimised cutting of the profiles.
Installers, workshops and distributors also ask us: “Does it handle foam-filled slats as well as extruded ones?” This article covers everything CUTTER SOFT does for roller shutters. For the pricing details, see our page on roller shutter pricing software.
Foam-filled, extruded and any other slat you set up
The two main slat families on the market are ready to use:
- foam-filled slats, injected with polyurethane foam, light and insulating; you choose the model (45 or 55 mm, for example) when you enter the shutter;
- extruded slats, solid extruded aluminium, strong and suited to large sizes, with an “interlocking every N slats” setting.
The software’s real strength is that everything can be set up: you configure any other slat type you need, in PVC, steel or technical profiles. Any profile system, no supplier imposed: your shutter system is set up once, with its slats, guide rails, boxes, tubes and formulas.
Whether you work with one family, the other or both, CUTTER SOFT prices them, cuts them and produces the related documents, in the same interface.
From take-off to quote: what CUTTER SOFT calculates for a shutter
Here are the essentials, in four points. The full pricing details are on the roller shutters page.
Curtain weight, torque and motor
The weight of the shutter curtain and the motor torque, in Nm, are calculated by the unit’s formulas, from the dimensions and the slat type. The motor is then chosen by an IF/THEN rule that you set up: you stay in control of your brands and models, and you avoid undersized motors.
When CUTTER SOFT AI builds a project from a quote attached by your customer, it asks you for the motor whenever the choice is yours.
Slat cutting and optimisation
Slats, guide rails, bottom slat and tube are cut like any other profile. The optimisation offers 3 modes (automatic, available lengths, limited stock) and reuses offcuts above a threshold you set. The cutting plan comes out ready to print for the workshop. To go further, read our page on cutting and optimisation.
The result: material saved on every project, especially on repeat orders.
One project, several shutters, one quote
A project holds as many shutters as you need, each with its own dimensions, colour (RAL, anodising, sublimation) and options, alongside the windows and sliders of the same job. CUTTER SOFT then produces the documents: product list, production sheet, bill of materials, cutting optimisation, cost price and a PDF quote with your logo. It is all explained on our pricing and quotes page.
No more juggling Excel, a calculator and drawing software: everything happens in CUTTER SOFT, in a few minutes, where the same work done by hand takes far longer.
Who is it for?
- installers and fabricators, to price quickly and present a professional quote;
- workshops and factories, to optimise cutting and standardise production;
- resellers and distributors, to handle a high volume of requests;
- profile system suppliers, to equip their design office and their partner network.
In the same software, roller shutters sit alongside aluminium windows, doors and sliders: one tool for the whole job.
See roller shutters in CUTTER SOFT, then try it
The videos just below show an aluminium roller shutter project: entering the dimensions, choosing the slat type, automatic calculation, optimised cutting plan and the customer’s PDF quote. The rest is in our video training, module by module.
The best way to judge is to try it on your own shutters: the free trial lasts 15 days, you request the key from the software, and our team can show you a project close to yours in a 30-minute remote demo.
